Dr. Anna Battle knew in the seventh grade that she wanted a career in dentistry. Inspired after a routine cleaning, Dr. Battle told her mother that she would grow up to be a dentist. “I’m not sure why it stuck with me so hard,” Dr. Battle said, “But I followed my dreams and here I am!”
Growing up outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Dr. Battle attended elementary school just two blocks from Lambeau Field. “Packers’ games feel like home,” she said. “I’ve sat on cold bleachers with four pairs of socks on, and I could not call myself a Green Bay homegrown fan without a cheese head!”
Dr. Battle received a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Norbert College and obtained her dental degree from The University of New England College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Battle recently relocated back to the Midwest with her husband Kyle whom she married in Acadia National Park in Maine. “We love exploring nature,” she said. “On our last road trip, we camped from Maine to California.”
Treatment Philosophy
Dr. Battle believes that everyone has a right to understand and ask questions about their oral health and takes the time to talk with her patients and listen to their concerns. “Behind every tooth is a person,” Dr. Battle said. “Patients who understand the importance of what is going on and why are more motivated to maintain a healthy smile. The most important thing for a patient to understand is that their oral health is not separate from the rest of their body. Oral disease causes, correlates and affects many other diseases throughout the body.”
Additionally, comfort is a top priority for Dr. Battle, and she works closely with each patient to understand any potential worries or anxieties. “Some patients might prefer distraction techniques while others might prefer relaxation,” Dr. Battle said. “Once we identify what makes a patient fearful or nervous, we will work with them in a way that makes them feel more comfortable.”
Family and Fun
Dr. Battle and Kyle have a cat named Babs and one dog named Sunnie who they often call Bunnie. “She’s like the Energizer Bunny,” Dr. Battle said. “She has so much energy!”
When she’s not in the office, Dr. Battle enjoys exploring local nature preserves, restaurants and bookstores. She enjoys creative arts and spends time working on a variety of projects including upholstery, crochet and woodworking. Her favorite treat is a malt. “Yes, it’s different than a milkshake,” she said.
