Traditional crowns require the dentist to prepare the tooth for a crown, take an impression, and place a temporary crown in the first appointment. Patients have to live with an uncomfortable temporary for days or weeks while an outside laboratory crafts the permanent crown. Another appointment is then needed to remove the temporary and place the finished crown. In the meantime, the temporary crown can be irritating to wear and may come off prematurely.
Glidewell’s CAD/CAM technology means that there is never a need for a temporary crown or a waiting period. Instead, Dr. Dennis will prepare your tooth for a crown and place it during the same appointment. 
We will take a digital impression with a hand-held scanner—eliminating the need for messy impression material in your mouth—and create the precise specifications for your restoration. Then the computer fabricates your crown from a very strong ceramic material that has been color-matched to your other teeth.
