If you’ve been considering giving your confidence a boost with a beautiful smile makeover, you may have looked into porcelain veneers. Porcelain is a great material for veneers because it closely matches the properties of natural tooth enamel while being more stain resistant and durable. Veneers offer the same color variation, translucency, and gloss of natural teeth. And they can be completed in just two visits, which is why they are often called the instant smile makeover.
Porcelain Veneers Smile Design
The first step in any smile makeover is creating a smile design that really works for your face and personality. This is an art in itself, and Dr. Dennis takes it seriously. First we’ll take a set of photos, and she’ll sit down and look at them with you. She’ll give you a mirror and describe what she is seeing and what she is looking for in a beautiful smile. You can bring in photos of smiles you really like, and she also has a book of smile designs for you to look through.
Porcelain Veneers Provisionals
Once you have decided on a smile design, we’ll create a set of provisional veneers, and Dr. Dennis will spending about 20 minutes refining the angles and other details until she feels they match your smile design precisely. You’ll try in the provisionals the very same day, and you’ll even get to wear them home. This way you can show them to friends and family and get really comfortable in them.
During this period, you may notice things about your provisionals you’d like to change. That’s what the provisional period is for. Dr. Dennis wants you to feel so confident about your new smile that you can’t wait to wear it permanently. She will make the changes you want, and she’ll then take a photo and a study model and communicate with her chosen master ceramist, who will create your new veneers.
Using Ultra Thin Porcelain Veneers
Dr. Dennis uses advanced ceramics and bonding techniques that provide the needed precision fit, and strength. She has her own brand of ultra-thin veneers that allow her to limit tooth preparation to the minimum if needed. It’s also good to keep in mind that sometimes preparing the teeth by shaving away a very thin layer of enamel offers significant benefits. It can lead to a smoother transition surface where the porcelain is bonded to the enamel.
Porcelain Veneers Placement
Once your veneers arrive, you’ll come back in and try them out. Dr. Dennis will place them using a temporary cement, so even at this point, changes can be made if you are not absolutely thrilled. And that’s what we’ll look for before anything is permanently bonded. Dr. Dennis wants you to be in love with what the veneers are doing for you, and she won’t bond them until you are. That’s why she can offer her Beautiful Smile Guarantee®. Once we attain that Wow factor, she’ll bond them in and you can start enjoying new smile.
Choosing Your Porcelain Veneers Dentist
As a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Dennis is one of a few dentists who has undertaken the advanced postgraduate training needed to produce a truly aesthetic smile design. While most dentists go into the field to fix things, like an engineer, it takes an artist to be interested in producing a beautiful smile.
Because the American Dental Academy does not recognize cosmetic dentistry as a speciality, many dentists without the requisite training and skill offer porcelain veneers and other cosmetic procedures. But the methods and techniques required to place veneers that match the subtle color variations, translucency, and sparkle of real teeth are not, for the most part, taught in dental school.
Since 1982, when she first went into practice, Dr. Dennis has continuously sought out postgraduate training, investing both time and money to learn how to combine science and art.
Finally, Dr. Dennis also offers a Complimentary Smile Analysis. We will take photos of your teeth, and she’ll go through the beginning steps of creating a smile design. We’ll then create a digital smile makeover for you by photoshopping in your new smile, so you can see what a difference it can make immediately.
