We love cookies! Gingerbread cookies, sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies\u2026 they\u2019re all great. They feed off of it, producing acid as a by-product. If we aren\u2019t brushing and flossing at least two times daily, the bacteria and acid multiply, causing cavities and gingivitis. Why does sugar have to be so bad for our oral health!?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Floss for health &amp; sugar bug reduction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Almost everyone brushes their teeth daily. If you\u2019re one of the millions of people who skip the floss, you\u2019re not alone. According to a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.perio.org\/consumer\/cdc-study.htm\">CDC survey<\/a>, nearly 50% of American adults have periodontal (gum) disease and would rather go to the grocery store than floss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI just never got in the habit.\u201d ~Half of all adults<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are always those one or two people who actually enjoy flossing. For most of us, it\u2019s not something we necessarily look forward to. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.perio.org\/consumer\/quarter-of-adults-dishonest-with-dentists\">national survey <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">found that\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">36% of adults would rather do an unpleasant activity than floss. Hate is a strong word, but adults do a lot of things they don\u2019t like<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">taking out the garbage, cleaning toilets, doing laundry, flossing, etc. Maybe we\u2019ll all make a new year\u2019s resolution to take care of our oral health better than we ever have! Don\u2019t be too hard on yourself if you miss a day here and there, just try to pick it back up as soon as you remember. Gingivitis, in its earliest stages, can be reversed. The longer you wait, the more potential for red, swollen gums to turn into advanced gum disease.\u00a0We\u2019ve all heard our dentist or dental hygienist say we need to floss. Some of us dread hearing it, because we know, <i>we know<\/i>. None of us are perfect, but those who make the mindset to floss daily have healthier mouths.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dental Fact: Healthy gums don\u2019t bleed<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If your gums bleed a little, just keep flossing and rinsing. The more you brush along the gum line &amp; floss, the healthier they\u2019ll become. Just think, every time you floss you\u2019re doing something that\u2019s good for yourself!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dental Tip: No time to floss during the day? Drink &amp; swish with water between meals (and cookies). Not only is it healthy for you to drink more water, it helps to reduce sugar &amp; acid!<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we\u2019re poking around your gums, it\u2019s not to be mean or Grinch-like. It\u2019s our job to assess your gums and oral health<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">w<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e genuinely want the best for you and your teeth! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mydrdennis.com\/\">Let us know<\/a> if you have any areas where food gets stuck or bleeds more than usual.
